High School Musical 2 has been promoted for a long time, but the wait is nearly over. This sequel to High School Musical is set to debut on the Disney Channel on August 17, 2007. Tweens are anticipating that this sequel will be just as entertaining as the first, while Disney is hoping it will rake in even more viewers than the first movie. One thing is for sure, millions of eyes will be watching with great expectations for another smash hit.
The good news is that the entire original starring cast is coming back. It just seems to make a movie more realistic when the sequel can produce the same quality actors that it had in the past. Some viewers were worried that Zac Efron might not return when he did not go on tour with the East High Wildcats this past year. But, reassured he is back!
Here is the cast lineup:
So, what is the sequel about? The East High gang has the opportunity to perform at the Lava Springs Country Club, which happens to be owned by Sharpay and Ryan Evans' family. Sharpay tries to win Troy's affection by offering him fabulous deals like a college scholarship, hanging out with basketball all-stars, and meeting other wealthy and influential people. Now Troy has to decide what is more important to him; his relationship and future with Gabriella or this springboard to his future in sports that Sharpay promises him. You will have to watch to find out what happens!
The movie is being hyped for its new musical numbers and hot dance moves. Now that the cast has had an opportunity to work together for this second movie, they feel really comfortable with their roles and with each other, and feel that they have stepped this movie up a notch. With the success that the first movie experienced, tweens will be waiting with anticipation to see if this movie meets their expectations.
There are a few surprises with High School Musical 2, such as Miley Cyrus will make a cameo appearance, as well as the fact that Zac Efron will be singing all of his own songs, whereas in the first movie he was aided by the voice of Drew Seeley. Drew Seeley played the part of Troy Bolton when the gang went on tour this past year.
