Aly and AJ Michalka - A Bio
Movie and Music Teen Pop Stars
Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka, also known as Aly and AJ, have made their way to the top. Not only are they successful song writers and singers, but they have also starred and appeared in multiple television shows. With a growing number of fans, it appears that this sister duo is only going to continue to climb the ladder of success.
Aly
Aly was born on March 25, 1989. She is the older of the two sisters. Her first motion picture was Super Sweet 16: The Movie (2006), but she is most known as an actress for her role in the Disney Channel series Phil of the Future, playing Keely Teslow. She and her sister, AJ, starred together in Cow Belles (2006), a Disney movie about two spoiled teenagers that learn that helping others is a rewarding and enriching experience.
AJ
AJ was born on April 10, 1991. She also starred in the motion picture Super Sweet 16: The Movie (2006), playing Sarah. AJ has also appeared in television shows such as The Guardian, General Hospital, Oliver Beene, and Haversham Hall, among others. She began her career as a professional model appearing on magazine covers and other gigs.
The Team
Aly and AJ learned to play the piano at an early age. They soon started acting lessons, and landed modeling and acting jobs at a young age. They both play electric and acoustic guitar, as well. Their parents are very supportive of their careers.
Of interest is that they were both home-schooled. They are proclaimed Christians and never forget that God has blessed them with their talents:
"Aly: We're all about staying grounded. Our parents have been great letting AJ and I know where they stand, and we're definitely remembering God is way bigger than all of this. It was cool to be able to do this, yet realize it's not your whole life. There's a lot more than acting and singing, even though we love it. While they are Christians, they do not want to be portrayed as Christian artists. They want their music to inspire listeners, but never want to push their beliefs on anyone. They like having the opportunity to sing for all people.
Their first album, Into the Rush, went platinum as of May 2007. The song, Into the Rush, appeared in Twitches, starring Tia and Tamera Mowry. They have produced many hit songs since that album. They are gearing up for a world tour right now.
